near boggs ave they have this year containment. add under control mobbing this up there are still fire fighters on the scene. making sure that the fire does not kick back up and also to the left there is a truck. so they can get to the top of the building. let me show you pictures. earlier, this started around 1:30. that large plume of smoke. there were on the scene that this was a big deal and they also upgraded this to a three-alarm fire and sprayed water on to it from outside instead of going into the building. it took them about one hour to get this building fire knocked down. the main concern because of the confederabecause of the-industrl

fire department will stay on the scene. charles clifford, kron 4 news. >>catherine: there was still a bomb threat had the threat of a teacher's life. this is machine shop. in cupertino, classes are cancelled after a spray=painted message on a school wall threatens a teacher's life. no explosives were found, and police are searching for who ever wrote the graffiti. we have been following up on royal pain. fire. two south bay schools closed today - as police investigated a bomb threat, and a threat on a teacher's life. you're looking at the graffiti threat - we've name. tonight - we have team coverage. haaziq madyun has been talking to parents and teacher. but first, rob fladeboe is live --- at monte vista high schoool in cupertino. happened. rob? >> sheriff's deputies sealed off the sprawling west san jose campus of monte vista high school just after 7 a.m. thursday. classes were cancelled after a threatening message was discovered on a wall at lynbrook high school in san jose, both schools part of the fremont union high school district.

>> there has been a graffiti sound on one of the buildings indicating that a bomb has been planted. at monteux vista high school. >> the threatening message mentioned a teacher by name. he was not hurt but remains under the sheriff's protection. the principal of nearby kennedy middle school confirmed a similar threatening message was also discovered here. sky 7 hd abc 7 news aerial video shows emergency personnel stagingin the parking lot of monte vista high as bomb-sniffing dogs went through the campus classroom by classroom. no bombwasfound bg stopped short of calling the threat a prank or hoax. >> we to know that the crime has been committed. we are following up on a different leagues. our patrol deputies are working together at this point. >> neither the sheriff or school officials would

more-land middle school. it happened this morning -- the 13-year-old was able to get away. when she arrived at school.she told a the principal. we'll have more on this story tonight on kron4 news at six. >> one of the highest tides of the year happened today. called the 'king tide'. it has caused big problems in low-lying parts of the bay area. this is video from sky-7 h-d over san leandro. where there was some flooding near the coast. but things were a lot worse in the north bay. in mill valley - the northbound 101 and highway 1 ramp was closed because the water was too high. some drivers went through it anyway. a popular bike path was also under water. forcing some cyclists to turn around. water even got into some businesses. the "park and ride" lot - looked like a lake. warning signs went up - and there was information on which parking spots to avoid. people say they were impressed by the huge tide.

interesting is this new version of google maps for iphone. it is better than the old one with a lot of new features. i will show you that but first, this entire apple map a bottle is interesting they rarely to a mistake. >> what apple showed a of operating six they show that there were going to map the world themselves with apple maps. this would replace google maps that is automatically installed it. and 1 internet operating 61 live, roadways were off, and the entire cities and towns for missing and there was a lot of bugs. apple maps was ridiculed. so much that the ceo, tim cook apologized. and he fired the lead executive. and just as things for calming down.

susan rice. the leading candidate to replace hillary clinton as secretary of state.said she withdrew herself from consideration for the position. rice is currently the u-s ambassador to the united nations.and has been harshly criticized by some prominent republicans for her response to the attacks on americans in bengazi back in september. now.rice has removed herself from the process.saying she was saddened that we've reached this point.and she did not want to go through confirmation hearings that were going to be "very politicized." president obama says he deeply regrets the unfair and misleading attacks on susan rice. we're getting lots of reaction to this story here on our kron0-4 facebook fan page. now they say that the senator john kerry is the favorite. and we are giving a lot of reaction. and you can join the conversation of we will be right back after this.

(male announcer) live from the kron 4 news station, this is the kron 4 news. now at 5-30. president obama says the fiscal cliff talks are still a "work in progress". he met privately with speaker john boehner today. they both know the stakes are huge. grant lodes has more. >> catherine,it's 19 days until the nation goes over the fiscal cliff. but when you take into account the time needed to actually pass and sign legislation, the real crunch time comes in the next couple of days. so lawmakers are talking again today, though it appears they're talking more to reporters than to each other. less than three weeks until the fiscal cliff, the "what-ifs" of going over the cliff are piling up, while

market update. stocks ended the day down. that's as the president and house speaker john boehner met at the white house to talk about the tax increases and spending cuts. on wall street the dow dropped 75-points. the nasdaq was down 22. and the s-and-p-500 lost nine points. >> watching today's losers and winners. rob, the big announcement from the fed that all of the buying but they're going to keep doing and also it was interesting that they tied it 21 employment. when it goes below 645%. >> yes, the fed is-if it goes below 6.5% --. they could increase interest rates. they could lower the cost of money by low-cost mortgages, lower-cost borrowing. typically, the mandate is to fight inflation and to help with employment. what they said yesterday was loud and clear that they're not going to raise rates. this is the
